Great Falls International Airport quietly becoming one of the city’s biggest economic engines

The area surrounding Great Falls International Airport is experiencing significant economic growth, with businesses establishing themselves on airport land, creating jobs, and investing millions in development projects. Inside the airport, Rockies Kitchen and Bar is expanding its operations to accommodate increasing traffic. The site has become a hub for major employers like FedEx and Jackson Group Peterbilt, largely because of a shortage of build-ready sites with city utilities in Great Falls.

The airport’s Phase I – completed in 2024 through a public-private partnership with Dick Anderson Construction – light industrial condos filled immediately, and Phase II is underway, featuring an anchor tenant, Jeremiah Johnson Brewing. Additional land and future phases are planned, with the long-term vision of creating up to 300,000 square feet of industrial space and developing 300 more acres, establishing a major employment cluster along the interstate.
