Shodair
Building

Project
Highlights

DAC is currently working through the early phases of construction for a new facility for Shodair Children’s Hospital in Helena, Montana. The building itself is a three-story, 134,000 sqft structure, located in the middle of their currently operable campus. Some limited demolition and remodeling has been done to integrate the old structures with the new. The project also entails the biggest pre-fabrication undertaking in DAC history, with over 104 bathrooms being prepared in North Dakota to be shipped out and delivered in stages during the summer. The task has taken plenty of work and planning from the design team, and has the potential to change the way DAC operates in the future. With a schedule spanning three years, the project is heavily phased and divided. An initial phase of winter concrete work was recently completed — and now, with springtime helping to dry the site out, we’re moving on to structural steel erection work. The hospital itself will be finished by the winter of 2022, with a final project completion eyed for the fall/winter of 2023.
