This 30,000 sf facility was an addition to an existing transit facility. The local transit authority (START) operates the transit facility, and the Town of Jackson operates the new addition. The latest addition is utilized to service vehicles for the Town of Jackson and other government entities within Teton County.
The facility was built using 14” thick precast exterior walls and a steel internal structure containing large vehicle lifts, an overhead crane, lubrication distribution, and a wash bay. Construction operations were conducted without disrupting the transit operations in the existing facility. Additionally, the project included extensive site wor,k including storm water distribution, a fuel island, and paving what was originally a gravel parking lot. Work was also included for future vehicle charging installations. Special care was required throughout the project to protect the adjacent Flat Creek, a critical waterway that runs through the community.
DAC was the CMAR, providing estimating and bidding services, value engineering services, and budgeting throughout the preconstruction process. While the project was fully designed before 2020, DAC provided feedback based on current market conditions and updated best practices to maximize the client's value. DAC utilized its broad subcontractor base to source subcontractors throughout the region, particularly on the specialty scopes of work. Special care was taken to align bid packages within the capacities and capabilities of each subcontractor.
